Meet Noreen Akhtar

I work with women in who have spent decades being strong for everyone else.

Women who grew up in homes where love and fear lived side by side.

Women who learned to stay quiet, stay small, stay good.

Women who became wives, mothers, daughters-in-law — but somewhere along the way lost connection with themselves.

My work is deeply personal.

I grew up in a household shaped by control and emotional unpredictability. Like many women, I developed coping strategies to survive. Emotional eating became a way to soothe a nervous system that was constantly on edge, people pleasing a way of life; putting everyone above myself meant that I lost myself along the way. Functioning without being present became my normal. When I became a mother I found myself parenting from my wounded younger self- obedient children meant I was a successful parent. How wrong I was. The more challenges I faced, the more parts I developed to cope.

When I began studying Somatic Trauma-Informed Coaching and Internal Family Systems–informed work, everything changed. I stopped shaming my coping behaviours and started understanding them as intelligent protector parts. It wasn't lack of discipline that was keeping me stuck in my emotional eating. It wasn't because I was a bad mum that kept me parenting from a place of disconnect and shame. It was my nervous system and the lack of capacity it had to deal with triggers that happen in everyday life. Soothing my triggers instead of having the skills to deal with them was what was keeping me stuck.

So I learned the skills that I lacked, I increased my nervous system's capacity by understanding my behaviours instead of shaming them.

I reconnected to my body so that I could FEEL the emotions that I had bottled up for decades; this was the missing piece that years of therapy and self help work had missed- in order to heal we must first learn to feel. The work was deep, often isolating and at times exhausting and I remember thinking how different my life would have been had I been aware of this information earlier in life.

For that reason I now choose to help other women to take the journey back to their True Self. I hear the words they have been afraid to speak; I see the soul that had been buried under the roles and expectations of life.

Using a somatic body based approach helps me work with women holistically- integrating mind, body and soul which leads to true transformation instead of temporary change.

The path of healing isn't about coming someone new.

It's about coming home to your Self that has always been there- calm, clear, compassionate and grounded.

I truly believe that when a woman reconnects to herself, she doesn't stop caring for others- she simply stops abandoning herself. Confidently saying no when she wants to, parenting from a place of connection and thriving in relationships where she is able to set healthy boundaries. Finally honouring herself with the same grace she grants others.
